macOS installation guide for Trezor Suite

Mac Compatibility

Trezor Suite works on macOS 10.11 (El Capitan) and newer, including the latest macOS Sonoma. Supports both Intel and Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3) processors.

System Requirements

  • macOS 10.11 or later
  • 50 MB free disk space
  • Administrator password
  • USB-C or USB-A port (adapter may be needed)

Installation Process

First, download the Mac installer (.pkg file). Then proceed:

Step-by-Step Installation

  • Open the downloaded .pkg file from Downloads
  • Click Continue in the installer window
  • Accept the license agreement
  • Select your installation disk
  • Click Install and enter your Mac password
  • Wait for installation to complete

Security Permissions

macOS security features require additional permissions for Trezor Suite:

Granting Permissions

  • Open System Preferences (System Settings on macOS 13+)
  • Go to Security & Privacy
  • Click the lock icon and enter your password
  • You may see "TrezorSuite was blocked" - click Allow
  • Grant accessibility permissions if requested

First Launch

After installation:

  • Suite launches automatically
  • Look for Suite icon in menu bar (top-right)
  • Right-click icon to see status and options
  • Green indicator shows Suite is running properly

Mac-Specific Issues

Gatekeeper Blocks Installation

If macOS blocks the installer:

  • Right-click the .pkg file
  • Select Open from the context menu
  • Click Open in the warning dialog
  • Proceed with normal installation

USB-C Adapters

For newer Macs with only USB-C ports:

  • Use a high-quality USB-C to USB-A adapter
  • Avoid cheap adapters that cause connection issues
  • Direct connection is always better than hubs

Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3) Notes

Trezor Suite runs natively on Apple Silicon:

  • No Rosetta 2 translation needed
  • Optimized for ARM architecture
  • Excellent performance and battery efficiency

Menu Bar Controls

Use the menu bar icon to:

  • Check Suite version and status
  • View connected devices
  • Restart Suite service if needed
  • Access preferences and settings
  • Check for updates
